The tri-scale illustrates the connection that exists between the Physical, Intellectual and Spiritual components of the Human Soul, particularly in relation to stress and its many effects.
If there is a deficiency in any one area of our lives, other areas must work harder in order to regain balance (homeostasis).
This effort to regain balance means work for the body, and therefore referred to as 'stress' - and can be measured in terms of 'stress levels'.
Stress = Workload

The purpose of a therapeutic massage is not only to repair an injury, but to search out its beginning, its cause.
Since whatever affects the part affects the whole, massage therapy, by directly affecting the physical, indirectly affects the intellectual and spiritual (or the whole person) as well.
It is, therefore, quite beneficial for a therapist to be schooled in a variety of disciplines: physical, as well as intellectual and spiritual.
